Meet Carrot Top

The idea of creating a company began in 2019 after the owner, Yalonda Hart baked mini sweet potato pie as party favors for her guests celebrating and honoring her deceased mother’s national journey with breast cancer. Yalonda remembered a time when her mother, Carolyn would bake sweet potato pies during the holidays and special occasions.

Carolyn would bake multiple pies, some for home and others for family members and coworkers. As a child, Yalonda would help by mashing the potatoes and became forever intrigued with the warm and soothing smells of warm sweet potatoes, melted butter, cinnamon and nutmeg. It wasn’t until Carolyn opened a local cafe that she began baking and selling mini sweet potato pies. It was the memories of the cafe that impelled Yalonda to begin her own journey selling sweet potato pie. Less than a year later, Yalonda was informed that her great grandmother had a sweet potato cake recipe published in a cookbook. The sweet potato cake recipe and sweet potato pie are both foundational baked goods, deeply rooted in family, love and tradition.
